This policy brief by the Alliance for Early Success highlights action steps that policy leaders in different states have taken to achieve a more equitable, ambitious child care system. As the need for affordable child care increases, given ongoing program closures, state and local policy leaders are taking steps to identify and implement meaningful policy change that can improve the child care system and address inequities. Readers will leave with illustrative examples from different states on how they are taking steps to advance the early care and education workforce, reform child care financing, increase access and affordability for all families, and provide supports for children, families, and communities.
