Workforce Wednesday Webinar: Educator Voices on Grow Your Own Community-Driven Strategies

Mar132024
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EST

Join the National Early Care and Education (ECE) Workforce Center and Workforce Wednesday Collaborative on March 13, 2024, from 12-1:30 p.m. ET as we shine a light on educators’ experience with Grow Your Own initiatives in ECE. This special Workforce Wednesday webinar will give participants a sneak peek into our Grow Your Own Campaign that will launch next month.

Grow Your Own describes the many dynamic, community-driven strategies aimed at building and sustaining a robust, diverse early educator workforce from within communities. These initiatives attract and prepare individuals of all backgrounds—high school students, career changers, parents, non-classroom staff, and early educators seeking career advancement—to pursue and further careers in ECE.

In this webinar, Executive Director of the National Association for Family Child Care Erica Phillips will moderate a discussion with experts in the field who will share their insights and experiences addressing the shortage of qualified early educators across ECE settings by developing and participating in Grow Your Own initiatives.

Expert panelists include:

• Damaris Alvarado-Rodriguez, CEO of Children’s Playhouse and founder of Latinos Educandos Juntos

• Joana Herrera, Provider and Training Support Coordinator at the SEIU Education and Support Fund

• Jada Vargas, early childhood educator and millionth recipient of the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
