Grow Your Own ECE: Catalyst for Recruitment

Apr102024
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EST

Join the National Early Care and Education (ECE) Workforce Center as we kick off the Grow Your Own Campaign. Learn how Grow Your Own initiatives are helping to attract a new and diverse cadre of educators into the ECE field. Grow Your Own is an umbrella term used to describe the many dynamic, equity-centered, and community-driven strategies to support and sustain a robust, diverse early educator workforce. These initiatives attract and prepare individuals of all backgrounds—high school students, career changers, parents, non-classroom staff, and early educators seeking career advancement—to pursue and further careers in ECE.

This webinar will feature Abby Copeman Petig, Research Director at the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment at the University of California Berkeley, Rochelle Wilcox, Co-Chair of Geaux Far Louisiana, the CEO of Wilcox’s Academy Early Learning Center, and the co-founder of For Providers by Providers, Pamm Shaw, former Executive Director of YMCA of the East Bay, and Colleen Bowman, Provost at Navajo Technical University in Crownpoint, New Mexico.

Together, they will share successful strategies and real-world examples of how Grow Your Own programs have been implemented in various communities.   ECE leaders, committed early educators and aspiring ones join us to learn how Grow Your Own initiatives can nurture talent from within communities.

Community leaders and people passionate about addressing workforce development issues, learn how Grow Your Own programs strengthen communities and ensure a skilled workforce for the future. #GrowYourOwnECE
